The process of reconstruction, recovery and modernization poses three important challenges for regional development policy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Integration of the regional development dimension into the recovery process,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>development of effective tools to empower and support development initiatives at the regional and local levels,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>strengthening the horizontal coordination of the SDP with sectoral policies implemented at the national
