Today’s events in Ukraine, no matter how tragic they may seem, also have a positive meaning: it is the end of the country’s post-Soviet history, the end of the era of “fraternal nations,” the end of “Soviet” “freedom,” “democracy,” and “human rights.”
The 30-year history of Ukraine’s attempts to sit on two chairs – the post-Soviet one, which until recently was filled with Russian paradigms and practices, and the pro-European one – has come to an end, which, although it may be very controversial for Ukraine, is the only way to preserve and enhance its national heritage.
