Research on the Practices of Rebuilding Countries After Destruction: Japan

The report describes the main steps in Japan’s recovery from World War II and the 2011 earthquake. The period of Japan’s existence from 1950 to 1970 has been called the “economic miracle” in history. After all, the country’s economic growth rate during those years was the highest in the world. Today, the Japanese economy is also one of the fastest growing. Therefore, Japan’s postwar steps are of practical importance for Ukraine, and we have identified the main components of the country’s success. Japan’s recovery after the earthquake was mainly based on rebuilding and preventing such catastrophic consequences in the future. The report describes the tax innovations that were introduced after the earthquake to help the affected regions recover.
