The Iran-Iraq War is the third largest war of the twentieth century. Fighting for provinces with rich oil deposits, Iraq failed to achieve its goal, and Iranian territories were returned. The war claimed about 500,000 lives and destroyed the infrastructure of five Iranian provinces. The policy brief provides an overview of the decisions taken by Iran to rebuild: reconstruction plans, economic stabilization programs, and lessons for Ukraine in the recovery period.
