This policy paper examines the challenges of regional development policy in the context of post-war reconstruction and recovery. The process of reconstruction, recovery and modernization poses three important challenges for regional development policy:

  • Integration of the regional development dimension into the recovery process,
  • development of effective tools to empower and support development initiatives at the regional and local levels,
  • strengthening the horizontal coordination of the SDP with sectoral policies implemented at the national level.
